Tasha’s {Purple & Blue} Bridal Shower

h

Yesterday I had the pleasure to throw my dear friend Tasha a Bridal Shower. She is getting married in a few weeks and I am maid of honor. It has been so fun to help her shop for a dress, plan the décor and just enjoy all the excitement of a wedding! Tasha is such a wonderful woman and I wanted to throw her a shower she would love.

I decided on a ladies brunch that included a yogurt bar with all the sides you could want and some delicious homemade breads.

The food was delicious! My favorite was a bowl of all the fruit, vanilla granola, & some honey in sweet Almond Milk. Yum! It was a beautiful morning, so we all ate outside and enjoyed the sunshine.

I made vanilla & cream cheese cupcakes for everyone to take home as well.

As the guests arrived, they filled out these cards {below} with questions on the back for Tasha. They wrote down what they loved about her and also gave her any marriage/love/wedding advice that they had.

We played a couple games, opened presents and helped prepare some décor for the wedding. And of course, no Bridal Shower is complete without a little bit of sexy lingerie! Joe is a lucky man!

The shower was a success and I had so much fun planning and preparing everything. I am so excited for their wedding on the 23rd! I am also making cupcakes for their reception {photos to come!}.

Ally’s Wedding Luncheon

IMG_7051

This weekend I had the pleasure of catering Ally & Dan’s wedding luncheon. My older sister teaches school with Ally & loves her, so I was really excited she hired me to be a part of her special day.

There were about 75 people in attendance throughout the 2 hour open house luncheon. She decided on a light, refreshing menu full of salads, croissants and sweet desserts. It was perfect for a hot, sunny June afternoon.

The fresh salads were a hit; but the Chicken Salad served in flaky, buttery croissants was probably the most popular item.

For dessert, Ally requested a Fruit Pizza Bar & some Rice Krispy Treats.

I had the most fun with the Rice Krispy Treats! I decided to jazz them up a little bit by adding some color and chocolate.

I made Ally & Dan a to-go box of Rice Krispies, since I know they are her favorite and who knows if she had a chance to have any! I remember not eating a bite of the food served at my wedding; brides & grooms are busy!

Everyone seemed to love the Fruit Pizza Bar; Ally made a great choice! I made homemade sugar cookies for the pizza ‘crusts’ & also made a sweet cream cheese whip to spread on top. Kiwis, blueberries and strawberries on the frosted cookie made for a perfectly delicious mini fruit pizza!

She chose Noah’s Reception Hall in South Jordan as the venue. It was a beautiful room with lots of natural light!

It was my honor to be a part of the celebration. Congratulations on your marriage, Ally & Dan!

The *Sweet* Life!

IMG_6758

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, I have been a busy lady!

I wanted to share a few photos of some Triple Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes I made for Mother’s Day. And here I am in the cute apron my parent’s bought me in Barcelona.

I am preparing food and sweets for a couple weddings over the next few weeks and am so excited! I am also helping with a few showers over the summer and can’t wait to get started on all the planning.

IMG_6759

Things have been going great and when I am not planning parties or making cupcakes, I am working on eating healthy & losing weight. But of course there is always room for a cupcake or two!

Summer is almost here, which of course brings all sorts of opportunities for fun events and parties! What do you have planned?

Hunger Games Dinner Party

22

Yes, its all people are talking about these days: the Hunger Games.

Have you seen the movie yet? I have (twice!).  It was an awesome movie and even a much better book.

To celebrate the movie launch, I held a dinner party at my mother’s home last Saturday. After dinner we all went to the theatre together to see the movie.

Because most of us attending had read the books, I decided to base all the food off of items discussed in the first book.

For the Tart recipe, click here (Oh & don’t worry, I didn’t really use Goat Cheese!).

My aunt Cindi made the “Puffy Bread” & it was to die for! Super soft, fluffy & sweet. She even added a “C” on top for the Capital.

My favorite part of the décor & creating the party was making Katniss’ dress! I love how it turned out. You can’t tell from photos, but it was super sparkly!

I made the sugar cookies & tried my hand at using Royal Icing for the flames. I wasn’t too happy with the results, but for my first time it wasn’t too bad, I guess. At least they tasted yummy!

For dinner we had vegetables, a green salad, barbequed Teriyaki chicken drumsticks, rolls & cheesy potatoes. And of course we all enjoyed multiple desserts. A true feast to get us all in the mood to watch the Hunger Games!

The party was a great success & if you haven’t read the book yet…go do it! (Even men enjoy it; both my father and husband read it last week & couldn’t wait to start on the 2nd one)

My cousins also brought a cake that they created for the party. Turned out great!
